Ms. Unrein was elected to the Woodmen of the World and/or Assured Life Board of Directors on September 27, 2008 and has served on the Board since 2004. She has served on the Executive Committee of the Board since 2004 as well.
Ms. Unrein obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Colorado, Health Sciences Center, and her Master of Science, Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Northern Colorado. She has also obtained several insurance industry designations by taking a series of courses and exams, which include a Fellow in the Life Office Management Association (FLMI); Associates in Regulatory Compliance (AIRC); Associates in Reinsurance Administration (ARA); Associates in Customer Service (ACS); Underwriting Life and Health Insurance Associates (UND); and Underwriting Designation (ALU-I).
Ms. Unrein's professional background includes both medical and insurance experience. She currently works as a Family Nurse Practitioner, providing primary care services to underserved patients in Colorado, diagnosing, prescribing medications, ordering and interpreting diagnostic labs and studies, and promoting wellness and preventive care.
Ms. Unrein also has over fifteen years of experience in the insurance industry. She has worked as Chief Medical Underwriter for Woodmen of the World and/or Assured Life Association and First Centennial Life Insurance Company, a stock insurance company. While at Woodmen, she also served as a manager in Claims, New Business and Customer Service departments.
Ms. Unrein has participated in the following professional associations: Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society; American Nurses Association; Colorado Nurses Association; Association of Women’s Health; Obstetrics and Neonatal Health; American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; and Rocky Mountain Society of Home Office Life Underwriters. Ms. Unrein also provides free sports physicals annually to local students as a district fundraiser, and provides free physicals and well-woman exams annually during the Channel 9 Health Fair.
Ms. Unrein is a member of Rocky Mountain Camp 999 of Woodmen/Assured Life. She has served in several camp officer positions, and has volunteered in the camp’s annual community service projects.
