In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them. Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow -- all while having fun. It is truly The Positive Place For Kids. Woodmen of the World and/or Assured Life Association has been very active with Boys and Girls Clubs across the country at the local level, supporting programs and partnering with local clubs on Join Hands Day projects and more.
Girl Scouts of the USA is the world's pre-eminent organization dedicated solely to girls - all girls - where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, Girl Scouts cultivate their full individual potential. The qualities they develop in Girl Scouting - leadership, values, social conscience, and conviction about their own self-worth - serve them all their lives. Woodmen of the World and/or Assured Life Association has been active with different local Girl Scout groups across the country, working together on volunteer projects in the community such as Join Hands Day.

Uniting Youth and Adults WOW/ALA is a very active (and award-winning!) participant in Join Hands Day, the only national volunteer day on America’s calendar that focuses on youth and adult partnership volunteering. The event was developed by America’s Fraternal Benefit Societies, in partnership with the Points of Light Foundation and the Volunteer Center National Network, to mobilize volunteers to create new partnerships that break down the generational divide and result in improved communities. Youth and adults work together to plan, organize and implement volunteer activities in their community. Through their participant kit, JHD has made it easy for anyone to start a JHD project. Visit their website at www.joinhandsday.org for more information and help bridge the gap between youth and adults in your community!
